The idea is becoming more structured...

Yes, eventhough I am more careful about who I am talking to... but that does not stop me from germinating the idea...

Remember about the new approach to learning and teaching silat ? Well I have some thoughts about it developing it to the next stage... So here goes...

When the general public who has no background what so ever were to view a silat tanding competition the first time, will they be able to distinguish which perguruan a particular pesilat comes from ? Definitely not... Especially most of the athletes seems to have mastered a certain techniques thru Youtube I guess... Some may be successful whilst others languish in failure not being able to emulate what they see because they are not natural athletes hence they got to go to the trainer that showcased the techniques, right ? But can they do just that ? Probably not especially if they have already sign up with a particular perguruan.

But back to the point... No one can really distinguish which perguruan the pesilat comes from just by viewing the match... So my question is, why should anyone represent a perguruan in Sports Silat Matches anyway ? They by no means showcasing the art from any particular perguruan but in actual fact they are showcasing the trainers effective method of teaching the pesilat... Hence the pesilat is not using the art from the perguruan rather they become a good fighter thru a trainer system of training them in the sports. Thus no one should be prevented from learning from any trainer that they feel can strengthen their skills to be the best pesilat they can become.

However to preserve the art from any perguruan, there must be a system that can patent the movements and techniques that is unique to a particular perguruan...

The criteria in order to receive the patent, the perguruan must prove that firstly the movements are really unique to them and it is a legitimate and authentic moves. To validate this, the movements must be able to execute attack and defence during a fight. It cannot exist solely for asthetic reasons only... If any of the perguruan found guilty of teaching a patented movements, the party that owns the moves can take legal actions against the former.

If this happens and perguruan is secured that revealing their unique style will not lead other perguruans to emulate without facing any kind of legal action against them then we can see pesilat getting their money's worth by learning only the moves that are confirmed able to make them very good silat practitioner...

For this to take off successfully, the jurus wajib and all the other common techniques must be abolished and we can start to celebrate the diversity of our martial art...
